Why a small home

Most of what matters in care comes down to who shows up.

In a large community, your mother may see a dozen different aides in a week. Here she sees the same small team, in a house where meals are cooked in the kitchen and the person helping her knows how she takes her tea.

The nurse-owned difference

“I built the kind of home I'd want for my own parents, and I run it the way a nurse runs a good unit.”

Owner and nurse, Natomas Home Care

Changes caught early

A nurse notices the quiet signs: a new cough, less appetite, a little confusion. That often means a call to the doctor instead of a trip to the ER.

Medications done right

Every medication list is reconciled after a doctor visit or hospital stay, and every dose is logged.

Smoother hospital returns

We speak the language of discharge planners and follow through on new orders from day one back home.

Caregivers trained by a nurse

Our team learns safe transfers, dementia communication and infection control directly from our nurse owner.

Care and services

Everything your parent needs, under one roof.

One monthly rate covers the room, meals, personal care, medication management, housekeeping, laundry and activities.

  • Nurse-led care planning

Every resident has a written care plan built from a nurse assessment and reviewed as needs change, not only once a year.

  • Medication management

Medications stored securely, given on schedule, logged on every pass, and reconciled after every doctor visit or hospital stay.

  • Help with daily routines

Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence care, given with patience and in private.

  • Mobility and fall prevention

Steady help with walking and transfers, a single-level-friendly layout, grab bars, and a watchful eye on fall risk.

  • Home-cooked meals

Three meals a day plus snacks, cooked in our kitchen, with care for diabetic, soft, low-sodium and cultural diets.

  • Memory support

Calm routines, gentle redirection and familiar faces for residents living with mild to moderate memory loss.

  • Hospice and comfort care

We work alongside licensed hospice agencies so residents can stay in the home they know, with the people they know.

  • Care coordination

We schedule appointments, arrange transport, talk with doctors and home health, and keep families informed.

A day at the house

Days that follow your parent's rhythm.

  1. Unhurried mornings

Residents wake on their own schedule. Help with washing and dressing, then morning medications.

  2. Breakfast together

Hot breakfast at the kitchen table: oatmeal, eggs, fruit, and coffee the way each person likes it.

  3. Movement and the morning paper

Chair exercises, a short walk in the backyard, puzzles, or reading the news aloud.

  4. Lunch

The main meal of the day, home-cooked and adjusted for each resident's diet.

  5. Rest and quiet time

Naps, music, phone calls with family, or a favorite show in the living room.

  6. Afternoon activity

Gardening, crafts, sing-alongs, card games, pet visits, or a video call with grandchildren.

  7. Dinner

A lighter meal and conversation. Families are welcome to join with a little notice.

  8. Winding down

Evening medications, help getting ready for bed, and a calm, dimly lit house. Caregivers are on duty through the night.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are cooked fresh in our kitchen and served at one family table. Visitors are welcome, and so are favorite recipes.

Questions families ask

Straight answers.

Choosing care is hard enough. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often.

Read all questions
What is an RCFE?

A Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) is California's license for assisted living. RCFEs are licensed and inspected by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. Smaller RCFEs like ours are often called board and care homes or residential care homes. They provide a room, meals, supervision and help with daily activities in a home setting.

Is someone there at night?

Yes. Trained caregivers are on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including overnight, weekends and holidays.

How much does it cost?

Our rates are all-inclusive: room, meals, care, medication management, laundry and activities in one monthly rate based on the level of care needed. Call us for current rates and availability. We'll give you the full figure in writing before any decision.

How do families pay for care?

Most residents pay privately, often with help from long-term care insurance or VA benefits such as Aid and Attendance for eligible veterans and surviving spouses. We're happy to walk you through the paperwork for insurance claims.

Tours are relaxed and unhurried. Meet the nurse owner, see the rooms, and stay for coffee. Most families visit within a day or two of calling.
