Questions families ask us.

If you don't see your question here, call us. A nurse owner will be glad to talk it through.

About our home

What is an RCFE?

A Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) is California's license for assisted living. RCFEs are licensed and inspected by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. Smaller RCFEs like ours are often called board and care homes or residential care homes. They provide a room, meals, supervision and help with daily activities in a home setting.

How many residents live here?

We care for up to 6 residents at a time. That small number is the point: every caregiver knows every resident, and the owner knows everyone by name, history and habit.

Who owns the home?

Natomas Home Care is owned and run by a nurse who has spent a career caring for older adults in hospitals, skilled nursing and home settings. The owner oversees every care plan, trains our caregivers, and is a phone call away for families.

Is someone there at night?

Yes. Trained caregivers are on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including overnight, weekends and holidays.

Can I check your license?

Yes, and we encourage it. You can look up any California care home, including its inspection history, on the CDSS Care Facility Search website. We'll also gladly share our facility number when you call.

Care and health

What kind of care do you provide?

Help with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating and moving around safely; medication management; meals and housekeeping; social activities; and coordination with doctors, home health and hospice. Our nurse owner creates and reviews each resident's care plan.

Do you accept residents with dementia?

We care for residents with mild to moderate memory loss whose needs can be met safely in our home. During the assessment we'll talk openly about current needs and what to expect as they change.

Can my parent stay through end of life?

In many cases, yes. We work with licensed hospice agencies so residents can receive comfort care at home, surrounded by familiar faces, within what our license allows.

What if my loved one needs skilled nursing?

An RCFE is a non-medical setting. Skilled services like wound care, injections or therapy are provided in our home by licensed home health agencies, which we coordinate. If needs ever exceed what can be safely provided here, we'll help you plan the next step.

Can residents keep their own doctors?

Yes. Residents keep their own physicians, pharmacy and specialists. We schedule appointments, help with transportation, and share updates after each visit.

Costs and admission

How much does it cost?

Our rates are all-inclusive: room, meals, care, medication management, laundry and activities in one monthly rate based on the level of care needed. Call us for current rates and availability. We'll give you the full figure in writing before any decision.

How do families pay for care?

Most residents pay privately, often with help from long-term care insurance or VA benefits such as Aid and Attendance for eligible veterans and surviving spouses. We're happy to walk you through the paperwork for insurance claims.

What paperwork is needed to move in?

California requires a physician's report (form LIC 602A) with a recent TB test, a pre-placement appraisal, and an admission agreement, along with a few other state forms. We provide everything and help you complete it.

How quickly can someone move in?

When a room is available, a move-in can often happen within a few days of the assessment and physician's report, including after a hospital or rehab discharge.

Can we bring furniture and personal items?

Please do. Photos, a favorite chair, quilts and keepsakes make a room feel like home. We'll help you plan what fits.
